PAPERWEIGHT - Open Thistle

Availability: In stock

Belgium has the poppy, France the fleur-de-lys, Ireland the clover and Scotland ... the thistle. To be honest, no one knows for sure how the thistle has become such an important symbol for Scotland. But legend tells us how a troop of sleeping Scottish soldiers was rescued from an ambush by the Norwegian army when one of the Norwegian soldiers stepped on the stinging plant (thistle). His painful scream woke all the sleeping soldiers who then defeated the Norwegian armies. Since then the thistle has been the national symbol of Scotland.

This paperweight, containing a magnificent thistle, can be used as decoration or can be used for its original purpose: to keep your papers safe from the wind.
