Macodes petola, the lightning bolt orchid, is a type of jewel orchid grown for its ornamental foliage rather than its comparatively inconspicuous flowers. The leaves are dark green and webbed with neon veins that almost appear to glow. The lightning bolt markings have a shimmery shift that give them the appearance of movement as you view the plant from different angels. This plant requires indirect light, moderate to high humidity and a well draining substrate. We highly recommend growing in a terrarium.
Care of Macodes petola:
Part shade, temp. 15-30 degrees, humidity about 85%, 3 to 6 in. tall, will trail 10-12 in.
